Oracle Analytics Cloud [OAC]
Dashboards, self-service BI and augmented analytics.
Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) is a scalable, secure cloud-native business intelligence (BI) platform that provides enterprise-grade data exploration, dashboarding, and predictive analytics. Unlike traditional reporting tools that operate strictly on historical text data, OAC natively incorporates Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Augmented Analytics. It functions as a unified platform where everyone from data scientists to non-technical business users can ingest, clean, and visualize data from virtually any cloud or on-premises source.
Rather than selling distinct, disconnected “modules,” Oracle structures OAC as a single application suite categorized by Core Functional Pillars (Capabilities).
Data Visualization & Dashboarding
This capability focuses on transforming raw data into interactive, easy-to-understand visual stories.
- Self-Service Visualizations: Users can drag and drop data fields to instantly generate charts, heatmaps, maps, and scatter plots. The system automatically recommends the best visual format based on the selected attributes.
- Pixel-Perfect Reporting: Built for high-volume corporate document generation. It allows organizations to design and schedule formal, highly structured reports (like financial statements, invoices, and compliance sheets) to be printed or emailed exactly as designed.
- Interactive Storyboards: Enables users to capture snapshots of their data insights over time and organize them into structured slide decks or live presentation dashboards.
Augmented Analytics & AI
This pillar acts as an intelligent assistant, automatically identifying hidden data trends and patterns using machine learning.
- “Explain” Feature: Users can right-click any data point or column, and OAC’s AI engine will automatically scan the dataset to “explain” what drives that metric, call out anomalies, and highlight key segments.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP & NLG):
- Ask Questions: Users can type questions in conversational English (e.g., “What were the top 5 sales regions last quarter?”) to automatically generate a chart.
- Text Summaries: OAC automatically writes out paragraph-based summaries explaining the key takeaways of a visual dashboard.
- One-Click Predictive Models: Business analysts can apply built-in ML algorithms (like linear regression, random forest, or clustering) directly to a dataset without writing Python or R code.
Data Preparation & Ingestion
Before data can be visualized, it needs to be cleaned and combined. OAC builds this extract-transform-load (ETL) capability directly into the user interface.
- Self-Service Data Prep: As users inspect their data, OAC highlights errors, missing values, or inconsistent formatting (like variations in date formats). It offers one-click fixes to replace or mask sensitive data.
- Data Flows: A graphical drag-and-drop tool used to merge multiple datasets together (e.g., combining on-premises Oracle EBS data with cloud-based NetSuite records), apply filters, and output a clean, unified view.
- Enterprise Semantic Model: Allows IT teams to build a centralized, single source of truth. It translates complex database tables and raw code into friendly, standardized business terminology (e.g., mapping column CUST_ID_09 to display simply as Customer Name).
Enterprise Architecture & Hybrid Deployments
OAC is designed to fit into hybrid IT landscapes, ensuring secure data transit without forcing companies to move all their data assets into the cloud.
- Oracle Analytics Remote Data Gateway (RDG): A lightweight agent installed on a company’s private network. It allows OAC to securely query secure, on-premises databases (like an Oracle Database or Microsoft SQL Server behind a corporate firewall) in real time without exposing the network to the public internet.
- Mobile Sync: Dynamically optimizes complex analytical dashboards for mobile devices and tablets, offering offline data viewing capabilities for field sales teams and executives.
